White Memorial Chapel today serves as the campus hall for Catholic Mass and nondenominational Christian services. It also includes an Islamic prayer room. For other religious services, transportation to area synagogues or houses of worship can be arranged by contacting Reverend William Wick at his office in the chapel. Eugene L. White ’14 helped fund the construction of White Hall. Constructed in 1941 and named in his honor, it originally served as a mess hall. After Harmon Hall opened as the new campus dining center in 1955, White Hall gained a new role as Norwich’s first chapel with the addition of a steeple clock, chimes, and altar. It was renamed White Memorial Chapel at that time. The basement of White Chapel housed the first holdings of the Norwich University Archives, and today, the Norwich University music programs call the White Chapel basement home.
