Shapiro Field House spans 50,000 square feet and features a 200-meter indoor running track, four tennis courts, and a climbing wall. The multipurpose building opened in 1987 and is used by all spring athletic teams for early season practices and as a venue for Commencement, concerts, and other university functions. The Norwich Corps of Cadets and ROTC conduct physical training in Shapiro. Completed in 1987, Shapiro Field House is named for Jacob Shapiro, a 1936 Norwich graduate who served with distinction as an Army officer during World War II.
