NU’s Peace and War Center and the Olmsted Foundation invites you to deploy and participate in a fully funded May 2022 leadership opportunity in Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan is an amazing part of the world where future miliary leaders are exposed to the complexities associated with conflict, culture, politics, and religion.
Be a part of an exclusive team that travels to Kyrgyzstan from May 2 – 16 (tentative) 2022 to learn about Kyrgyzstan’s culture, history, military, and religion. The Olmsted Foundation funds this experience and is a highly sought-after overseas leadership opportunity. These trips are designed to prepare you to be a more effective junior military officer when deployed.
On this Field Study on Peace and Conflict you will: meet military/government officials, participate in unique cultural experiences, meet with religious leaders, tour cities, interact with local/international NGOs, visit amazing rural and urban areas. In 2019 (before COVID), students traveled to the Balkans.
The process is very competitive, so ensure that you submit an updated resume that lists of your accomplishments, leadership positions, international travel, and other relevant experiences along with the application.
For those selected for the first round, interviews will occur in February.
This opportunity is open to all majors who will be upcoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The team will be comprised of cadets who will commission in the Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Army. You must have an ROTC contract or currently seeking one to be eligible.
Cadets have to be fully vaccinated in order to enter the country with having to quarantine.
You must be on a commission track to apply for this experience. Also, we strongly encourage you to take a look at our social media page (link below) to see what our Peace and War Center Fellows have done over the past several years. Please let us know if you have any questions.
