Homecoming 2020: the celebration is moving from the Hill to your home!
Our lives have been impacted in many ways since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, including our ability to gather for in person events. With the continued spread of COVID-19, Norwich is making every effort to ensure the health and safety of our students, alumni, faculty and staff by minimizing the likelihood or severity of an outbreak. As a result, no large public gatherings will be taking place at the university this fall. This means that this year’s on-campus homecoming celebration will be postponed to 2021.
We know this is disappointing news, especially for our reunion classes. However in these challenging times, Norwich’s priority is to make the campus safe for students, alumni, faculty and staff, and restricting events and visitors will help to minimize the likelihood or severity of an outbreak of the virus. Classes ending in 0 and 5 that were planning reunion events this year can be assured that that we will make it worth the wait for an extra special celebration at Homecoming 2021: September 23-26.
While we are sad that we will not be able to gather in person until next fall, the Alumni & Development team is pivoting our on-campus events to a virtual experience. Homecoming 2020: From the Hill to your Home will include a variety of livestreamed and virtual events—everything from a welcome by President Mark Anarumo, to programs honoring donors and volunteers, the Regimental Band’s Bicentennial Concert, and social events you can enjoy with classmates and friends around the world without leaving the comfort of your living room! A complete schedule will be announced soon. If you have ideas for how we can make this virtual experience the best possible, please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Watch for more information on Homecoming 2020: From the Hill to your Home in the weeks ahead and mark October 2-3 on your calendar for a fun and (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime experience!
In this together, Norwich Forever!
